ACTION – Respond to Glyn Cothi Consultation – Deadline 5pm on 26th November 2025
We are looking for wider support as the implications of this will affect the whole of Wales and England. Please share with anyone as a link to this webpage via email, or with any Facebook groups that might be interested
The Welsh Government funded company planning to build a 27 turbine windfarm in the Eastern Side of Brechfa Forest are currently holding an informal consultation on their plans for our land and neighbouring communities.
We would like to encourage residents, workers, visitors and holiday members to complete the online version of the consultation form https://trydanglyncothi.wales/feedback-form/. If you only wish to state. “I object to the TGC development”, that is a valid contribution and will help. If you wish to add more please read on for ideas.
The form is biased to achieve positive comments for the project. Following are some suggestions on how to fit your objections into the blank areas of feedback form. You may have more ideas than we have noted.
Please get in touch via our contact form to log your concerns too, as we are not convinced the analysis carried out by TGC will log all the objections. We want to ensure everyone’s voice is heard by politicians and the press.
You may find that the topics we suggested raising in the consultation events helpful in considering concerns you wish to raise.
You may find it helpful to draft out all your response to each question in a word processor and then cut and paste the contents into the fields on their form and our contact form at the same time.
Part 1
Q1 Here you can detail your strength of feelings about if the development should occur.
Q2 This is where you detail your views on the impact of the development on you, the residents of and visitors to Brechfa Forest. how it is likely to affect your quality of life and your plans for the future. Concerns about its effects on health and daily life. Worries about – Destruction of your local landscape, disruption, noise, infrasound, assets diminished. Plans to sell now or in the future scuppered?
. In the consultation the rep. suggested we propose alternatives to their project. Some people have suggested that sites in each village which did have a hydro scheme prior to the grid roll out should be re-instated. Others have suggested tidal. A common theme is that small schemes wholly owned by only the community effected by the development, proving energy for that community are appropriate for Wales
Q3 Don’t tick any boxes. Address the flipside of the areas they mention, especially highlighted that any community benefit fund or community ownership scheme will not be enough to compensate everyone for the consequences of industrial scale developments. Many economists are reporting that the economic plan is flawed and will result in financial ruin for Wales and the UK. Net Zero at all costs is not a good policy
Q4 The economic plan is not realistic. Some are worried there will be no financial benefits to Wales. Decommissioning costs are not included in the plans . As the number of political parties committed to reducing electricity bills by reducing subsidies for “renewable” projects increases experts are recommending that developers should not be permitted to commence construction without having ring fenced the money required to completely remove the development including foundations of wind turbines and restore the land.
Q5. The existing wind farm community “benefit” funds in the area are both inadequate in the size of the funds and rules prevent the community for applying for projects to research or mitigate the impact they are having on our community.
Part 2. They write developed by WG. At the point of planning being passed it will be built by mostly outside contractors. Almost everything is imported from overseas (adding to carbon footprint). And international investors will likely be owning shares. Where will the jobs or profits for Wales be then?
Part 3. You may wish to add your views on the accuracy of the information supplied by the developers. The treatment of people attending the consultations in person. Concerns on if the published report will accurately reflect the views of residents and visitors. You may also wish to refer to the growing number of reports by engineers and economists appearing in the press on the impracticality and damage to the economy being caused by Net Zero. Or press coverage of other countries who are changing their policies towards industrial scale developments.
Thank you for getting involved and supporting our communities
